In the beginning, there was the book. A codex. A gospel lost and found. When a leather-bound codex is found in the dusty storeroom of a small Pennsylvania college, the secret history of zombies in the life and times of Jesus is revealed. Gospel of the Flesh interweaves the contemporary story of the book’s discovery with the shocking gospel itself. A father’s deathbed confession explains how the book was smuggled out of the country, restored and translated by a mysterious organization. The Gospel itself sheds new light on familiar stories, including Lazarus and the Last Supper, revealing the hidden connection between the undead and the eternal life. Gospel of the Flesh is a terrifying excavation of the long-buried foundation of Christianity. Like other Gnostic Gospels discovered before it (Thomas, Judas), the image of Jesus that emerges from Gospel of the Flesh is a departure. The Jesus that emerges from shadows of history here will change everything. Again.
